SUNDAY’S WORD:”Hear, Listen, Forgive”

Daniel 9:19

“…then the LORD your God will restore your fortunes. He will have mercy on you and gather you back from all the nations where He has scattered you.”(Deuteronomy 30:3, NLT)(Illustration by Jenn Webster)

This entire great nation of ours is in very bad shape right now; All too often, people are using social media for evil purposes, while others are beginning to hate people just because of their race, creed, religion, or national origin. Some other people would do anything to go on reality TV just to simply get attention, but would only bring shame to their families; And then, there are far too many people who ignore the traffic laws and just drink and and then go ahead drive, not even to bother that it is very illegal, let alone getting arrested, or to kill or injure someone.

I could go on and on about the other people who have done the most wickedest of things, but the fact of the matter is that it would take too much of a time to mention them all. I would, however, like to talk about people who have just completely ignored God, and just go about their normal lives, or as normal as they would ever have, but in truth, they are going about their normal, sinful lives; That, my friends, just happens to be the VERY most wickedest of all, ignoring God, and especially ignoring His Son, Jesus Christ, as well! However, in spite of the very fact that we have sinned, our Lord God still loves us, and He has showed His unfailing love for us all by sending His only Son, Christ, to die on the cross for each and every one of us all! Without the most blessed salvation that has been won for us by Jesus, then we would all end up in eternal damnation forever!

In the 9th chapter of the Old Testament book of Daniel, Daniel himself had been seeing all of the trouble in Babylon; He began to pray to the Lord and confessed this: “O Lord, You are a great and awesome God! You always fulfill Your covenant and keep Your promises of unfailing love to those who love You and obey Your commandments. But we have sinned and done wrong. We have rebelled against You and scorned Your commands and regulations…Lord, You are in the right; but as You see, our faces are covered with shame…But the Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against Him.” (Daniel 9:4, 5, 7, 9, NLT)

Then Daniel concluded this urgent prayer with this: “O my God, lean down and listen to me. Open Your eyes and see our despair. See how Your city-the city that bears Your name-lies in ruins. We make this plea, not because we deserve help, but because of Your mercy. O Lord, hear. O Lord, forgive. O Lord, listen and act! For Your own sake, do not delay, O my God, for Your people and Your city bear Your name.” (Daniel 9:18-19, NLT)

What Daniel is praying, my friends, is a prayer for mercy, in which that kind of prayer is indeed the prayer for each and every person who has been longing for the want of God’s love, as well as God’s mercy and salvation that only comes from the precious blood that has been shed for us by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Now, Jesus Christ is the ONLY ONE who can carry all of your sins, both past & present, and have them nailed to the cross in which He died from, with His blood flowing freely, washing away all of your sins, so that you can be saved and be granted this very special and very blessed thing called life eternal. The only way to be saved is by believing that Jesus died on the cross and then rose again, and that you have confessed your sins to Him, and by inviting Christ Jesus into your heart, so that for always you can follow Him as your very own personal Savior.

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent His Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through Him.” (John 3:16-17, NLT)

My dearest friends, would you like to have the most extravagant gift of all, the most blessed and holy gift that is called salvation, which has been victoriously won for us by Jesus Christ, the Son of God? Then I would very much like to ask you to please pray this prayer with me: “Oh, Lord Jesus Christ, I admit that I am a sinner. I have ultimately sinned against You in thought, word, and deed. I have not loved You with my whole heart as myself. I believe that You have died on the cross for my sins, and have been raised from the dead on the third day by our Heavenly Father, defeating death as You went out of the tomb, so that I could very well have eternal life. I urgently ask now that You please come into my heart, and let me follow You always as my personal Savior. I thank You so very much for sacrificing Your life to save me. In Your most holy & blessed name. Amen.”

If you have just prayed this prayer with me, then I would very much like to welcome YOU into God’s Great, Big Family! Now, the very next thing that you need to do now that you have given your very own heart to Jesus would be to read the Holy Bible, God’s Word, each and every day of your life; Then when you want to praise, worship, and thank our Heavenly Father for what His Son Christ Jesus has done for you, then I strongly urge you to go to a good, Christian church, each and every Sunday of your life. I very much hope and pray that you make this most important and most blessed decision of following our Lord Jesus Christ today, and always. I would like to thank you so very much for reading today; Until next time, may the Lord God ever so richly bless you.
