SUNDAY’S WORD: “The Parable”

Matthew 13:3-9, 19-23

Sunday's Word
“…for I will speak to you in a parable…I will teach you hidden lessons from our past…”(Psalm 78:2, NLT)(Illustration by Jenn Webster)

Summer shall be coming to an end before any of us know it; And afterward, the crops in which the farmers had planted throughout the entire season will have all been grown come harvest time, and then those farmers will indeed harvest the fruits and vegetables, such as apples and pumpkins, and have them put up for sale…
The time of the harvest, which begins during the fall, will surely be on its way; But there is a much different kind of harvest, and this kind of harvest is the one in which Jesus Christ talks about in the Bible, only this harvest is the one in which there is going to come a day in which our blessed Lord & Savior will come back, and we as Christians will join Him, but as for those who have completely turned their backs on the Savior, they will be trapped into eternal damnation FOREVER! “That is the way it will be at the end of the world. The angels will come and separate the wicked people from the righteous, throwing the wicked into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth…” (Matthew 13:49-50, NLT)

However, there is still time for those of you to repent of your sins and to give your heart to the Son of our Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, Who has paid the ultimate price for your sins on the cross, but I shall tell you how in just a little bit; Meanwhile, in order to teach His disciples, Jesus told stories in the form of a very special something called parables, and among those parables is the story of the farmer, in Matthew 13:3-9, NLT: “Listen! A farmer went out to plant some seeds. As he scattered them across his field, some seeds fell on a footpath, and the birds came and ate them. Other seeds fell on shallow soil with underlying rock. The seeds sprouted quickly because the soil was shallow. But the plants soon wilted under the hot sun, and since they don’t have deep roots, they died. Other seeds fell among thorns that grew up and choked out the tender plants. Still other seeds fell on fertile soil, and they produced a crop that was thirty, sixty, and even a hundred times as much as had been planted! Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand.”
Yes, Christ Jesus had indeed told the parable about the farmer and how he had planted the seeds, but those seeds had fallen on different grounds, and with that, what do they mean? Let’s look in on that in verses 19-23 of the same chapter of Matthew(NLT): “The seed that fell on the footpath represents those who hear the message about the Kingdom and don’t understand it. Then the evil one comes and snatches away the seed that was planted in their hearts. the seed on the rocky soil represents those who hear the message and immediately receive it with joy. But since they don’t have deep roots, they don’t last long. They fall away as soon as they have problems or are persecuted for believing God’s Word. The seed that fell among the thorns represents those who hear God’s Word, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life and the lure of wealth, so no fruit is produced. The seed that fell on the good soil represents those who truly hear and understand God’s Word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted!”

Yes, what you have just heard is true, my friends: Among all of the worthless seeds that had fallen on the soil is the one that has fallen on the very good soil, and that represents those who, in spite of all their trials in life, both from their own sins or the sins of others, hear the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, cling to it, and produces as much a great harvest as before! Now, isn’t THAT such a wonderful thing? How would YOU like to be THAT good seed, one who is being saved by the very precious blood of our Lord & Savior, the Son of our Lord God, Jesus Christ? Well, now you can-And the very best part of it is, it is all for FREE! Free because the salvation from all of your sins has been won for you by Christ’s death and resurrection on the cross; In order for us to be saved and to have us purified by washing away all of our sins, Jesus Christ allowed Himself to be whipped, beaten, forced to carry, and then be nailed to, bleeding, suffering, and then finally dying on the cross…Then, three days later, our Heavenly Father raised His Son from the dead, defeating death as He went out of the tomb, so that every one of us could very well have eternal life.
“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in His grace, freely makes us right in His sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when He freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed His life, shedding His blood.” (Romans 3:23-25, NLT)

And now, are you ready to have your sins repented and to receive the free gift of salvation that has been won for you through the precious blood of Christ Jesus on the cross at Calvary? Then I strongly ask that you please pray this prayer with me: “O Lord God, Heavenly Father, I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Your Son, Jesus Christ, died on the cross for my sins, and that You have raised Him from the dead on the third day, defeating death so that I could have life eternal. I heartily ask that You please invite Your Son into my heart, and to let me follow Him always as my personal Savior. I thank You so very much for allowing Your Son to sacrifice His very own life to save me. In His most holy & precious name I pray. Amen.”
If you have just prayed this prayer with me, then I would like to welcome YOU into the Family of God! Now, the very next thing that you need to do now that you are a follower of Christ would be to read the Holy Bible, God’s Word, each and every day; And then, in order to praise, worship, as well as to thank our Heavenly Father for the sacrifice of His Son that has saved you, then I strongly encourage you to go to a good, Christian church each and every Sunday. I very much hope and pray that you make this most blessed choice of following Jesus Christ today, so that you will be with Him always. I would like to thank you so very much for taking the time to read today; Until next time, may the Lord God bless you ever so richly each and every day.

Glory be to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
